Toad Spotting


A couple of weeks ago we watched this toad swimming across the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Gargrave. Strange how much spottier its body looks below the water surface......

    It's a real beauty. They seem to change colour depending on what they wish to blend in with.

    Hi Adrian, the frogs in our pond seem to change colour as the season progresses. They're muddy brown when they emerge from hibernation then develop patterned skin later - I wonder if it's the same with toads...
