The Hole in the Wall Gang


This wren is nesting in a hole in the wall in a garden near Cambridge.

 At this time of year it must be at least its second brood, which probably explains why the parent is looking a bit dishevelled and anxious. It seems to be collecting very small food items, including ants.

    These are excellent shots of a bird that is difficult to get a picture of.

      I think it was so knackered from collecting food for its brood that it couldn't be bothered to be evasive!

      The only other occasion when I've got a passable photo of one of these was of a fledgling - the adults are really lively, aren't they?!
