Wet Water Avens
If you’re British, you somehow have to find a way to enjoy the subtle pleasures of wet summer days.........like these ripening seeds of water avens, perhaps, appropriately bejewelled with water droplets.

This picture is delightful, Phil. I enjoyed finding and photographing Water Avens at Kirkwhelpington earlier this spring, but had no idea that they turned into seed heads like this. I must look out for them when I am out and about.
ReplyDeleteHi Emma, this seed head is about half way through the ripening process. When it's ripe the ends of the individual fruits form a hook that catches in fur, feather and clothes.
ReplyDeleteThose water droplets are like little diamonds hanging on the ends. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt makes a lovely artistic picture, Keith.
ReplyDeleteSorry Phil - called you Keith - senior moment!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith and John, it was one of those mornings when there had been persistent fine rain overnight without a breath of wind, so water droplets clung to everything...
