Hairy Caterpillar



I found this extremely hairy caterpillar this afternoon when I was picking raspberries. My thanks to Skev, who identified it as a buff ermine Spilosoma luteum caterpillar.

    I can't help with your ID sadly ... but we enjoyed seeing three Fox Moth caterpillars at Minsmere on Saturday.

    Lovely close shots Phil. I often wonder what my mother thought when, as a 5yr old, I used to stuff such things in my coat pocket and take them home.
