Blue skies and wild cherry buds showing the first signs of bursting, but this little huddle of still-hibernating 7-spot ladybirds Coccinella septempuncata don't seem to have got the message that spring has arrived .... or maybe they know something that we don't...
Yep, they know what my granny knew..... Ne'er cast a clout till May is out!" :O)

Yea, they know the old saying 'One swallow does not a summer make' too lol
ReplyDeleteSpring does seem to have rushed in this year, after the bad weather. I do hope it stays.
There have been a few ladybirds wandering round the garden here for the past few days. I always wonder how they manage to survive a hard long winter.
ReplyDeleteI think they were smarter than us humans, which are coughing and sniffing after thinking enforced hibernation is at an end!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Lesley, Keith, John and Yoke .... I guess they are probably geared to waking up once their food - aphids - begin to breed, so becoming active in mid-March would be prett reckless unless it was a mild winter...
