One of the advantages of compact pocket digital cameras is that they offer amazing depth of field in images. Another is that they make it easy to take pictures from unfamiliar angles – from ground level, for example. Put the two together and you get a different perspective on the natural world, that’s more familiar to a ground feeding bird or small mammal that spends it’s time looking upwards, rather than to we humans who inevitably see much of the living world from a lofty perspective. From the top: germander speedwell, foxglove, hogweed and spotted orchid.
These are all great shots Phil.
ReplyDeleteFrom an insects point of view, the world must look a formidable place.
That Hogweed looks a real challenge to climb.
I agree, great shots, Phil. Well captured.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a different perspective on our world. Gives an idea of the jungle the world must appear to be to small creatures.
ReplyDeleteThe picture of the Germander Speedwell is very beautiful, Phil. The perspective is excellent on all of the pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreat perspective...I must try that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith, Dean Emma, John and Abbey meadows, It's interesting how familiar plants take on a new character when you look at them through the eyes of smaller animals..
ReplyDeleteI like this alternative view Phil, great images.
ReplyDeleteI love all animal life but I never thought how the world must look to insects and birds! These are fabulous photos. Bring on the Spring so I can try some of the same. :O)
ReplyDeleteHi Lesley, spring seems a long way off at the moment but I can't wait for it to arrive too..... with a chance to explore some more vole's-eye views of the world. All the bst for 2010..
